My name is Tammy Anderson, and I am an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribes, born and raised in Beatty, Oregon. I am the daughter of Herman and Deb Anderson, who are also proud enrolled members of the Klamath Tribes.
I graduated from Bonanza High School and the College of Cosmetology, earning my certification as a State of Oregon Certified Nail Technician.
My professional career began at Kla-Mo-Ya Casino, where I spent ten years progressing from a door greeter to the position of Marketing Manager. This experience provided a strong foundation in customer service, operations, and leadership.
In 2008, I joined the Klamath County Juvenile Department, where I dedicated 15 years to working with and supporting youth involved in the justice system. In 2010, I also accepted a second position with Klamath Tribal Health and Family Services as a Non-Emergency Medical Driver in the Transportation Department. For 13 years, I had the honor of transporting tribal members to their medical appointments, gaining valuable insights into our community's health needs and deepening my connection to our people and culture.
In 2020, a former business partner and I applied for Oregon Measure 110 funding to support a new initiative. We were awarded funding in April 2021, and our work began shortly thereafter.
In 2023, I made the decision to fully dedicate myself to this vision. I resigned from both the Klamath County Juvenile Department and Klamath Tribal Health to focus full-time on building Tayas Yawks, a nonprofit organization founded to serve our community. While the journey has included its share of challenges, I am proud of the progress we have made. Through hard work, determination, and a deep commitment to our mission, Tayas Yawks is now moving forward with strength and momentum.
